The Circle is a proposal to create a circular food economy with minimal waste in the heart of Bristol City Centre.

This ambitious project is a collaboration with the local traders; Bear Pit CIC’ which seeks to transform the Bear Pit, a sunken public open space at the centre of a large roundabout into this pioneering food project using modular construction.

The proposal is to activate the space with a series of container interventions and decked walkways that will house 3 key functions:

Food Hub
This will use innovative growing techniques such as; vertical farming, aqua phonics, all powered from a central waste to energy system that powers the growing spaces and completed the circular economy. The food grown would be sold on site and exported around the city.

Community Hub
Spaces for people to rent, educate and share experiences together.

Innovation Hub
Both the Food Hub and the community Hub are supported by the innovation hub, supported by local universities to use the site as an incubation test space for a range of new technologies linked to the circular economy.
