Carbon Retrofit
We want to reduce the carbon footprint of existing homes and improve quality of living for people and communities.
The BRE Trust Housing Stock Report, states that the average SAP Score of existing housing in the UK is approximately 62 (EPC:D). Therefore, retrofit is a necessary and growing sector within the construction industry.
We recognise the Carbon and Energy Challenge facing our current housing stock. To be a proactive part of the solution, we have been exploring and developing an approach and process to developing Low Carbon Retrofit that is regenerative and responsive to place, people and planet.
Our Process
Our process reflects and considers the standard set by PAS 2035, creating a holistic approach to Retrofit. An important part of the approach is to set robust, achievable and measurable targets from the outset, reviewing with the client financial targets against carbon cost and stakeholder aspirations.
Another key focus of our retrofit strategy is to look for opportunities to upgrade daylighting, inclusivity and flexibility of space, as a way to improve the health and wellbeing of residents.
Our Approach
Our Retrofit approach creates a whole building strategy considering all aspects of the existing building or neighbourhood, creating a retrofit programme either phased or one-off deep retrofit. It is a five-stage process, however each stage is as important as each other.
